Hume City FC were edged out 2-1 by Melbourne Victory’s junior side in a wet and testing NPL clash at NASIOL Stadium.
In what was the penultimate round of the 2025 season, home side Hume City FC started brightly, adapting well to the slippery surface and pushing forward with intent.
Their pressure was rewarded in the 14th minute when Mehmet Uysal broke the deadlock, finishing off a strong attacking passage to put Hume ahead.
The early goal lifted the crowd, but the advantage was short-lived. Just eight minutes later, Victory equalised through a well-executed corner, their header finding the back of the net to level the scores at 1-1.
Both sides went into the break locked together, and it was Victory who seized momentum early in the second half. A miscued Hume goal kick gifted possession to the visitors, who made no mistake, chipping neatly over the keeper to snatch a 2-1 lead.
From there, the contest opened up with chances at both ends. The deteriorating pitch made conditions difficult, particularly in the goalmouths where mud patches began to appear. Hume pressed hard and carved out opportunities, but couldn’t find the finishing touch.
In the end, Melbourne Victory held firm, leaving Hume frustrated after a strong but unrewarded performance.
