Hume City come from behind to claim important win against Dandenong City

Hume City FC has taken a strong second win of the 2025 NPL season, defeating Dandenong City 3-1 in a fiery affair at Frank Holohan Soccer Complex in Dandenong.

After a cagey start between the two sides, Dandenong got the early advantage with a goal in the 39th minute and led 1-0 at half time, but Hume City proved to be the strongest on the day, netting three second half goals to secure a vital win in the fourth round of the season.

The scoring started in the 39th minute when a challenge from Hume City player Mark Ochane fouled George Lambadaridis just outside the Dandenong City box.

Lambadaridis took the penalty himself and slotted a sublime free kick into the net, putting Hume City on the back foot.

It wasn’t until the 70th minute until Hume City retaliated, with Birkan Kidar evading two players to level the scores with a top right net winner.

Momentum was in Hume’s favour, and just two minutes later, a corner for men in red resulted in their second goal, this time an own goal off the head of a Dandenong City player saw Hume take the advantage.

Despite some tense moments while 2-1 up, the result of the match was put beyond doubt with in the 89th minute when a shallow back pass from Dandenong’s defender to their keeper was intercepted by Hume substitute Michael Domfeh who breezed the ball into the net, sealing the commanding win.

After four games, the win sees Hume City lock in its position in the top half of the league ladder ahead of a crucial match against Alton Magic SC next Friday night.
