Dominant Hume City cruise to 5–0 Dockerty Cup victory over Melbourne Srbija

Hume City FC has progressed to the next stage of the Dockerty Cup in emphatic fashion after putting five goals past FC Melbourne Srbija at Kevin Bartlett Reserve on Tuesday night.
The commanding victory came as a result of a dominant first-half performance, where Hume City FC raced to a 4–0 lead thanks to a brace from Lloyd Isgrove and goals from Mehmet Uysal and Aisen Ishak, before Michael Domfeh made it five shortly into the second half.
With wet and windy conditions awaiting Hume City and its VPL2 hosts, it didn’t take long for the away side to take control, with Isgrove opening the scoring in the 15th minute after pouncing on a rebound – the goal a reward for Hume’s early control.
One of those players causing havoc for the home side was Birkan Kirdar, and his dominance became too hot to handle for Srbija as two heavy tackles on the vice-captain forced him to be substituted early for 17-year-old Michael Lazaris.
Despite the Hume City FC playmaker being forced to the bench, it didn’t stop the team’s dominance, as Hume City was awarded a penalty when Uysal was brought down in the box – Isgrove stepping up in Kirdar’s absence and coolly converting from the spot.
In the blink of an eye, Hume City FC had made it 3–0 after Uysal dispossessed the Srbija defence deep in their box straight from kick-off and confidently scored his first goal of the night.
Hume City forced to do another early substitution when Joseph Forde was brought off the pitch due to injury; however, the team remained comfortable and maintained possession to control the tempo.
With just a few minutes left in the half, Ishak found himself on the scoresheet with a thunderous header around the six-yard box after getting onto the end of an inch-perfect cross and out-muscling his defender.
The second half picked up where the first left off, with Hume City stronger in the opening five minutes of the two teams and searching for another goal. However, Srbija produced a promising spell itself and showed what they were capable of thanks to multiple good chances, although Hume City goalkeeper Michael Weier never looked like conceding.
Srbija’s hopes of scoring a goal during the period were all but shut down just before the hour mark when a brilliant run from Isgrove down the left win ended with the Englishman playing a cheeky chip ball to Michael Domfeh at the edge of the box, who bundled the ball past the keeper.
Just moments later, Ishak had a forgettable moment in defence and lost the ball in defence, as the Srbija striker failed to trouble Weier. The home side’s best chance of the match came in the 70th minute, when they struck the crossbar before sending the rebound just over the bar.
Following that small nervy period of the game, Hume City once again took control of the game as Uysal nearly added a sixth after a dazzling run in the 87th minute, cutting back to Domfeh, who fired just wide.
In the end, the final whistle confirmed a comprehensive 5–0 win, sending Hume City into the sixth round of the Dockerty Cup, with our next opponents to be revealed in the coming weeks.
