Hume City FC is delighted to announce the club has secured $250,000 in funding for major facility upgrades at its home ground, Nasiol Stadium.
Thanks to the outstanding support and advocacy of Iwan Walters MP, member for Greenvale and Meadow Heights, the funding will contribute toward significant lighting infrastructure upgrades across the facility, along with the installation of a brand-new state-of-the-art LED scoreboard.
Already regarded as one of the premier football facilities within the Football Victoria landscape, these upgrades will further strengthen Nasiol Stadium’s standing as a benchmark venue for football across the state.
The investment reinforces the club’s growing reputation within Victorian football and enhances both the training and match-day experience for players, members, and supporters alike. The improvements will benefit Hume City’s thriving development pathways across Men’s and Women’s football, from Under 8s through to Senior level.
The upgraded lighting system will provide improved night training and match conditions while supporting the continued growth of football participation within the local community. Importantly, the additional lighting capacity will also create greater opportunities for the continued development and expansion of the club’s Girls’ and Women’s football programs, ensuring more access to high-quality training environments and match-day experiences.
The new LED scoreboard will modernise the venue and elevate the overall spectator experience.
The official handover ceremony took place recently at Nasiol Stadium and was attended by Club President Ersan Gulum, Vice President Haydin Bekir, Senior Men’s Coach Nick Hegarty, Iwan Walters MP, Kathleen Matthews-Ward MP, and Enver Erdogan MP.
Hume City President Ersan Gulum expressed his gratitude for the support and highlighted the importance of the investment for the club’s future.
“This funding is a fantastic boost for our club and I can’t thank Iwan, Kathleen, Enver and their respective teams enough for their unwavering support of Hume City over many years,” Gulum said.
“This investment will play a major role in helping our club continue its journey toward becoming a powerhouse in Victorian football. The upgraded lighting infrastructure will provide greater opportunities for our teams to train, develop, and perform at the highest standard at any time of day.
“We have hundreds of players across all age groups utilising these facilities each week, and these improvements will help create an even stronger environment for excellence, participation, and community engagement.
“Importantly, these upgrades will also assist in the continued growth of our Girls’ and Women’s football programs by providing better access to training facilities and creating more opportunities for female participation within our club.
“The installation of a new LED scoreboard will also bring modern technology to our venue and further strengthen our position as one of the leading football clubs in the state.”
Hume City FC would also like to sincerely thank Hume City Council and its councillors for its ongoing support of the club and acknowledge the strong relationship that continues to help drive positive outcomes for the local community.
A special thank you is extended to Mayor Carly Moore for her continued support and commitment to community sport and local football initiatives.
Further details regarding the installation timeline and completion dates will be announced in the coming months.
