Hume City FC is delighted to announce the signing of former Newcastle Jets player Moonib Adus as its latest addition for the upcoming season.
Mostly playing as a left winger, the talented 22-year-old has enjoyed a solid rise through the Australian football system and will add more quality to Hume City’s attacking options.
Boasting an impressive junior career, Adus began with the Newcastle Jets’ youth team before breaking into the senior squad at the start of 2023, where he made his official A-League debut for the Newcastle Jets.
Adus’ time at Newcastle came to a close at the end of the 2022/2023 season, leading the promising attacker to move down to Melbourne, joining Bentleigh Greens for the 2023 season, before shifting to Oakleigh Cannons for the 2024 season.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a full National Premier League season campaign with Oakleigh, scoring his maiden National Premier League goal against Green Gully, further demonstrating his attacking threat and consistency on the field.
“I’ve been wanting to sign with this club for a while now. I feel like the way Hegs (Nick Hegarty) wants to play coincides with my playing style, while I also really like the pitch as its large size suits my style.
“My main reason to sign was because of the coach. I feel like I will get along with Hegs quite a lot and I also really love this ground, so I am excited to get going.
“I want to try to achieve as much as I can with this team both individually and as a collective. Obviously, winning the league is our biggest goal, and hopefully we can get ourselves in a position to do so.
“I am excited to get back on the pitch again and looking forward to playing in front of the fans.”
Hume City FC coach Nick Hegarty welcomed the addition of Adus to the squad.
“Moonib is a highly talented winger who will undoubtedly bring a lot to our attacking line,” Hegarty said.
“He has shown that he can play at the top level having been in the A-League system, while also having experience in the NPL levels – both of his experiences being highly valuable to our team.
“We are excited to see how his qualities complement the style of football.”
