Hume City FC is excited to welcome latest signing Chris Engelhart to the roster.
An attacking right-winger, Engelhart arrives from Andorran top-level team FC Ranger’s scoring three goals in 12 games during the Primera Divisio season.
Prior to his stint at Ranger’s FC, Engelhart played in his native Mexico for a variety of clubs including Tepatitian FC, Tiaxcala FC, Club Atletico Morelia, Tampico Modero and achieved success at Tapatio by winning the Liga de Expansión MX title in 2022/23.
Engelhart’s signing continues an exciting off-season of acquisitions for Hume City FC. Ready for the challenge, Engelhart is eager to taste success in 2026 and is aiming to use Hume City FC as a pathway to reach Australia’s pinnacle, the A-League.
“Winning the 2023 Liga de Expansión MX title with Tapatio in Mexico and then the country’s special Champion of Champions were huge moments for me, but I think going abroad – first to Andorra and now to Australia – is something I’m personally proud of,” Engelhart said.
“I like big challenges in my career, and I feel I’m at the perfect age for the challenge of playing at Hume CIty FC on. After speaking with Nick, the style of play he wants to implement with the team is something I really believe in and look up to.
“As an attacking player, this style of play is very appealing to me. It really caught my attention and was a big reason why I wanted to be here.
“First of all, I want to help the team make the playoffs, and I believe there’s no reason we can’t go on to become champions. I hope to see us celebrating a championship, and for me personally, to continue my development and hopefully one day play in the A-League.”
Hume City FC Senior Coach Nick Hegarty is thrilled to add Engelhart to the squad ahead of Round 1.
“Chris is a very intelligent footballer, who learnt his football in a highly technical and competitive environment in Mexico,” said Hegarty.
“He has already shown his attacking mindset and quality on the ball.
“The fantastic thing is his willingness to work for the team and take on instructions.
“Chris’s journey to Melbourne is one that no one probably would have predicted, but the Hume City fans and any follower of the NPL have a very exciting player to follow this season.”
Hume City FC will begin its 2026 NPL Victoria season at Nasiol Stadium against the Altona Magic on Friday, 13 February.
