Aaron Reardon is the latest Hume City FC player to re-sign with the club, with the Queenslander committing to the club for the 2026 season.
Having joined Hume City FC ahead of the 2025 season, the 26-year-old had a solid maiden season with the club and was a strong contributor to the defence in all competitions.
Reardon entered the club with a wealth of experience at the top level in Australia, as well as playing the game in strong international leagues.
The defender showed plenty of promise in his younger years, forming part of the prestigious FFA Centre of Excellence before signing with Brisbane Roar in 2016, where he spent four years in the team’s National Premier League and A-League sides.
Following his release from Brisbane Roar in 2020, Reardon finished the year off with the Gold Coast Knights and then moved to Victoria to join Port Melbourne for the 2021 season.
His efforts with the Sharks were rewarded with an international contract at Bangladeshi side, Mohammedan Sporting Club for 2021/2022, to which he helped the club secure a semi-final finish in the Federation Cup and a fifth-place finish in the overall league.
Reardon only stayed with the club for one season as he returned to the Gold Coast Knights before being recalled back to Brisbane Roar for the 2023/2024 season.
While his return to the A-League was short-lived, Reardon found his way back in Melbourne to continue his career, joining Hume City at the end of last year for the 2025 season where he made a strong impact in his first year.
“It feels good to know that I have another year here and hopefully I can help the team progress next season and continue having an impact,” Reardon said.
“Obviously I am missing home a little with the sun and the general life of the Gold Coast but it was an easy decision overall and one that I am feeling really good about.
“The club is heading in the right direction and I wanted to be a part of it. I really want to help the club continue in the trajectory that it is going in right now and hopefully we can challenge for something this year and make it to the finals.
“Missing out on the finals last season was disappointing for not just myself, but the whole club. We are a close-knit family here and I think we are capable of producing a strong season together, which is why I want to remain part of it.”
Hume City Head Coach Nick Hegarty was thrilled to have Reardon remain at the club.
“Aaron has displayed plenty of quality in 2025 and we were keen to keep him on board, so it’s fantastic that he has re-signed for another season.
“For us, he has the ability to adapt to a number of styles and having players like that in the team is crucial to our future endeavours and successes.
“I look forward to working with Aaron again and getting the most out of him for the upcoming season.”
