Founded in 1979 as Holland Park Football Club, the Club originated as a local club, established by members of Melbourne’s Turkish-Australia community.
In 1993, the club was renamed North Coburg United and set its sights on promotion through Victorian football. Strong on-field performance saw a rapid rise through the state league divisions, with three promotions between 1996 and 2002. In 2007, the Club reached the Victorian Premier League ,the state’s top tier competition at the time.
In 2009 the club moved to a new home in the City of Hume and rebranded as Hume City FC, marking a new era for the Club. By 2014 Hume City FC opened a $12-million state-of-the-art facility at Broadmeadows Valley Park. Later that year the Club was also awarded a license into the newly formed National Premier League competition.
Today, Hume City is a proud National Premier Leagues Victoria club, with aspiration to become a leading force in Australian football, winning at the highest levels and producing players who progress to the professional game. At the same time, the Club seeks to be the heart of football in Melbourne’s north, uniting diverse communities through inclusive programs and a welcoming culture.
In the Club’s modern era, branded as Hume City FC, it has seen a relatively high degree of success.
In 2016, under the guidance of Club Legend and coach Lou Acevski, the club made the FFA Cup semi-final, loosing to eventual champions Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park.
2019 saw the Club win its first piece of silverware defeating Melbourne Knight 1-0 to lift the 100-year-old trophy and be crowned the Dockerty Cup Champions.
Later in 2019, Hume City once again made the FFA Cup finals, this time being defeated by A-League Club the Central Coast Mariners with an agonising last minute goal mouth scramble to score.
