Hume City FC signs experienced Centre Back Jacob Adams

Hume City FC continues to add further experience to its squad by signing ex-Missouri Valley College player Jacob Adams.

Originally from England, 23-year-old Adams entered the United States College system at Missouri Valley four and a half years ago, playing the position of Centre Back.

Through this period, Adams was also loaned out to Seacrest United, New England, Lane United in Oregon and the South Carolina-based United Bantams.

Prior to heading to the US, Adams was part of the Mansfield Academy in the United Kingdom.

Adams brings plenty of experience, who expects to break lines through his accurate passing, but can also defend through his ability to win headers and his strong tackling ability.

Joining Hume City FC marks the next step in Adams’ career and he is eager to take on his next challenge.

“What attracted me to Hume City FC was that the coaching staff were very open with their philosophy and how they like to do things, which appealed to me straight away,” said Adams

“Add in the facilities and the youthful list, Hume City FC was the right fit for me.

“I’ll bring consistency during the season and hopefully leadership from the back line. I’m a ball playing Centre Back, who can do the technical in possession stuff, but I can get stuck in by winning headers and big tackles.

“For the team, I want to help them win trophies and games. Personally, I’m ready for a step up in my game and Hume City FC is the place to do that.

“Having played college for the past five years, I feel like I’ve outgrown the system, so I’m ready to take on this new challenge and see if I can improve myself.”

Hume City FC Senior Coach Nick Hegarty is delighted to welcome Adams to the squad.

“We are really pleased to get Jacob into the football club,” said Hegarty.

“Coming through the UK and American systems he has developed his game, and his profile suits our game model incredibly well.

“Super comfortable on the ball, and has a competitive aggression also.

“Not only that, but is a fantastic person.

“Jacob joins a group that is desperate to push each other to be better every session.”

Hume City FC will begin its 2026 NPL Victoria season at Nasiol Stadium against the Altona Magic on Friday, 13 February.
