Hume City FC signs Centre Back Brayden Spink

Hume City FC is excited to announce Centre Back Brayden Spink as its latest signing for the 2026 season.

Based on the Gold Coast up until last year, Spink arrives at Hume City FC vastly experienced in state-level competition.

A ball playing Centre Back, 21-year-old Spink started his football journey at the Gold Coast Knights before moving to Spain at the age of 17 to take an academy position.

Spink returned a year later when he joined Gold Coast United where his performances led to an opportunity to join the Newcastle Jets A-League Youth Team for a pre-season.

Moving south last year to join South Melbourne, Spink was part of the squad to win the inaugural Australian Championship.

Spink is returning back from injury and is thrilled to join an influx of new players at Hume City FC where his agility will enhance the team’s defence.

“I came to Hume City FC following a couple of chats with Hegs (Nick Hegarty, Hume City FC Senior Coach),” revealed Spinks.

“I liked the style he wants to play. I also know a couple of boys at Hume City FC and I’ve heard good things about the club regarding its ambition and direction, which suits the style I want to play

“I’m a Centre Back. I like to be a ball playing Centre Back where I’m agile and good in the air, so definitely a ball player in that position.

“I’ve had a minor injury, so I’m super keen to get back into it. I’m liking what I’m experiencing at the club and the players on the roster.

“I think we’ve got something really special to build on and we’re aiming to go far this season in addition to the Australia Cup.”

Hume City FC Senior Coach Nick Hegarty is glad to welcome Spink to the organisation.

“When we found out that Brayden could be available it was a no brainer for us,” said Hegarty.

“Brayden is mature beyond his years and is ultra competitive.

“He is athletic, highly technical and has a high game IQ. He will bring a lot to our group and we are excited to have him on board.”

Hume City FC will begin its 2026 NPL Victoria season at Nasiol Stadium against the Altona Magic on Friday, 13 February.
