Another Year for Godfrey

Hume City FC is pleased to confirm the re-signing of Godfrey Debele for the 2026 season.

Having arrived in Broadmeadows at the end of last year, the exciting attacking centre forward made 20 appearances in his first season with the club, scoring twice and setting up two goals in that time.

Debele joined Hume City from Gold Coast Knights in December off the back of a breakout season where he scored 10 goals in just 17 games in what was his second year with the club.

Before having been a key part of the Gold Coast outfit and playing under former Socceroo Scott McDonald, the Queenslander had strong stints with Brisbane Premier League side Redlands United and Eastern Suburbs FC where he was a consistent goal scorer.

At just 24 years old, Debele has a bright future at the club and is looking forward to another year under Nick Hegarty.

“I’m excited to re-sign with Hume City and keep working with the team,” Debele said.

“We’ve made some good progress this year, and I’m looking forward to what we can achieve in 2026 under Nick Hegarty.”

Hegarty was equally as eager to work alongside Debele.

“Godfrey is an exciting player to have in our squad. He already has some fantastic qualities in his game and also tremendous potential to develop it. I can’t wait to work with him again in 2026” Hegarty said.

“I am looking forward to having a full pre-season with Godfrey to give him the platform to push himself to the limit in the new year for both his own personal development and the teams continued progression.”
