Hume City was held to a 1-1 draw with Richmond SC on Friday night, in hotly contested encounter at Kevin Bartlett Reserve.
Tom Cahill returned to face his former team, and took his spot in the the Hume starting XI leading the line as the sole striker.
Hume got off to a strong start, with Cahill creating a number of chances, while at the other end Chris Oldfield was on hand to deny Richmond SC on the counter attack.
Hume got the go ahead goal when Cahill grabbed his chance with both hands, giving the away side the lead in the 37th minute.
The lead wouldn’t last long however, Nick Kokalakis netting with a fine strike to ensure the scores would be level at 1-1 at half time.
Hume went straight on the attack from the resumption of play, searching for an opportunity to retake the lead.
In the 76th minute Kristian Trajceski almost put Hume back in front when he made a smart run in behind the Richmond defence, however he couldn’t find the target with a strike when under heavy pressure from the Richmond defence.
Both sides would have chances late to seal the three points, Kofi Danning with a shot the flashed across the face of goal in the 90th minute and Alex Caniglia with a scuffed strike in late stoppage time.
Ultimately it would end all square at 1-1, a point earned for Hume as it looks to return to ABD Stadium when it hosts Avondale FC on Saturday night.
