Hume City has delivered one of its most embarrasing displays in recent history losing its Anzac Cup battle against rivals South Melbourne 6-0 at Broadmeadows Valley Park. The game which started with both teams testing each other to see who will break first, saw no real positions until De Moraes turned the City defence inside out only to be denied by a busy linesman who called offside.

Hume City welcomed back Steven Pace and Goran Talevski, but both struggled to lift the tempo of the game, which resulted in Andy Vlahos substituting Talevski at the 28 minute mark in an attempt to get some drive through the left side putting on first gamer Sam Dehaini.

It was South Melbourne at the 36th minute mark scoring the opening goal through Fernando De Moraes. Rattled by the goal Hume City conceded another two before half time with Gianni Di Nittis scoring at the 41st and 42nd minutes to send South Melbourne into the rooms ahead 3-0 at half time.

A shocked crowd of 1,500 couldnt believe what was being displayed with Fernando De Moraes delivering another blow scoring South's 4th goal at the 52nd minute of the match.

Hume City almost pinched one back with Steven Pace sending the ball over the cross bar at the 53rd minute after a cross by Richard Cardozo.

South Melbourne scored its 5th goal via a brilliant free kick taken by Daniel Vasilevski at the 73rd minute sending the ball in to the top right hand corner from 30 metres out.

Unable to put any play together Hume City's final nail in the coffin came from man of the match, Gianni Di Nittis at the 84th minute after Bosevski lost the ball out wide to Sebastian Petrovic who whipped in the ideal ball for Di Nittis who scored his hat trick.

The much anticipated top of the table clash between Hume City and Oakleigh Cannons resulted in the Cannons claiming victory over a completely depleted City outfit, which was without Thompson, Vlahos, Riccobene, Pace, Petrevski, Talevski and the like. With the wind behind them in the first half, the Cannons tried to set up their lead with a disallowed goal at the 2nd minute of the match after the linesman called an offside.

With constant pressure and a solid start to the match, the cannons almost put the ball in the net after Curcija missed an open goal, after being unmarked at the back post at the 11th minute. With full momentum behind them Oakleigh continued to attack with Diaco causing minor headaches for coach Andy Vlahos.

Able to combat the Cannons attack, through the tight marking of Karpeh upfront, Hume City was able to withstand the wind and a desperate Cannons to go into the half time break at 0-0.

The second half began with a big bang after young City striker Turhan Sumbul completed a solo effort intercepting the ball at the Cannons defensive area and scoring a goal after beating the keeper to send his team 1-0 up at the 46th minute. The City faithful excitement lasted a total of 2 minutes with Drakos sending the ball past Acevski at the 48th minute to equalise and followed up with a brilliant left foot strike at the 50th minute after recieving a brilliant cross by Cameron Watson to send his team 2-1 up.

In complete shock, Hume City pushed for the equaliser and almost had it with a goal to Cardozo disallowed at the 58th minute after the referee called an offside. Sensing a goal was nearby, Turhan Sumbul showed some individual brilliance after taking on the Oakleigh defence with some great dribbling, only for the referee to call a controversial foul against the pumped up striker.

The frustration of the players spilled into the game after Cardozo was called for a foul on the Cannons keeper, after a late challenge, which saw the Cannons players all run into Cardozo to reminstrate the tackle.

Hume continued to push forward through Ersin Kaya who sent the ball wide at the 65th minute of the match.

Mehmet Karakilic put in an intelligent cross, but had no one to greet the ball which went out for a goal kick at the 74th minute of the match.

Tansel Baser came ever so close to scoring after he headed the ball just wide of goals at the 85th minute. With Hume desperate to get the equaliser, had to pick the all out of its own net at the 92nd minute. With the score at 3-1 the referee blew the whistle for full time, and Hume City's first defeat for season 2010.
