Hume City Welcome New Director Of Football

Hume City F.C. Is pleased to announce the appointment of David Smith as the Director of Football for the 2018 season .

President Steve Kaya speaking on the appointment of David stated,

“David’s background as the past Technical Director of FFV for the last three  years and prior to that Technical  Director of NNSW Football and his involvement in setting up the Emerging Jets program , makes him a perfect fit in all aspects for the Hume City Football club, An A. Licence coach, he is also a leading AFC / FFA coach educator which he can pass on to coaches, players and support staff.”

“Hume City have appointed David to oversee the technical and player development pathways at the club, Hume City as a club, have a strong youth program but we recognise that we need to continue to raise the bar and the appointment of David on a full time basis indicates our intention to provide our coaches and players with a defined player development pathway from Mini-Roos to Seniors and he will also introduce the the new Hume City Academy program in 2018.

“David’s football background , understanding of Youth football in Australia fits into the club’s long term ambition, of having the senior squad made up of 80% home grown talent by 2023- this is a key to our continued growth and success as a leading NPL Club in Australia”

David has been working on a consultancy basis at Hume City, working with Head Coach Nick Hegarty and the senior team – he will continue to work with Nick and other senior coaches as part of the role and will commence his new role immediately .
