Hume City’s under 20 side showed incredible fight to score a later winner to defeat Port Melbourne 2-1 at JL Murphy Reserve on Friday night.
The home side started the faster of the two sides and would find an early goal to take the lead in the 13th minute.
From thereon in Hume City began to wrestle back control of the contest and had a great chance to score an equaliser when Tom Harris delivered a corner to Karl Baricevic which went narrowly wide.
The goal would eventually come and it would come from the boot of Jake Latif who converted from a Adrian Corsi cross.
The second half saw chances come for both sides however it would be Hume City which would find the winner sparking wild celebrations.
Adem Or rose up to head home an 89th minute winner after a well weighted cross from Thomas Privitelli.
The win sees Hume City close in on the leading pack and sitting in 7th place on the ladder.
Next up for Hume City is a home tie with Avondale FC who are also coming in off a strong win.
Speaking after the game, head coach Hus Saglam said he believes the hard work being put in by his squad on the training pitch is beginning to pay dividends.
“We can definitely see an improvement not only in our game day performances but also on the training track,” Saglam said.
“I feel in the coming weeks our young squad will continue to prosper and we look forward to taking on Avondale at our home ground in what will no doubt be a very tough game”
