Hume City was victorious in the first of its two interstate friendlies this week, downing Broadbeach 7-0 at Nikiforides Park on Friday night.
Hume raced out to a 5-0 lead before half time with triallist Jayden Prasad netting the opener, Wayne Wallace netting a first half brace and Daniel Clark and Oliver Kubilay also both finding the back of the net.
Hume would add two more second half goals with Kristian Trajceski and James McGarry also registering themselves on the scoresheet.
Speaking after the match, Captain Nick Hegarty said he was delighted with the fight shown by a number of the younger players of the squad against a Broadbeach side which provided stern opposition throughout the game.
“It was a great chance for us to get minutes into our squad which included a lot of youngsters,” Hegarty said.
“Boys like Kristian Trajceski, Karl Baricevic, Oliver Kubilay and Hayden Tennant really stepped up against a physical Broadbeach side.”
