Captain’s Corner: Vol. 16.5

What a huge effort from our boys to make the FFA Cup last 32 for a second consecutive year!!!

On the night we made a decent Richmond team look very average so all the credit has to go to the players and the coaching staff. The win puts us into the Semi Final of the Dockerty Cup, again! Can we go one step further this year and make the final?? Exciting times for the club.

Obviously I would not have been writing this blog if England had lost last night!!!! Thankfully they managed to produce the goods and with the Euro’s in full swing now I wonder if we will see some tired performances over the weekend. I imagine player’s routines all over Victoria are being manipulated with late nights and early mornings.

How other people feel whilst watching their homeland in national competitions intrigues me because I spent 90 minutes feeling anxious, uncomfortable, angry, frustrated and annoyed. Is that just me or is it just supporting England?

I also am trying to figure out whether I am enjoying watching any football at the moment. We used to see team vs team but now we only seem to watch tactic vs tactic. One team trying to breakdown a solid wall of defence and the other ‘parking the bus’, which seems to be a favoured phrase in modern football.

Not that anyone really cares but I think we are looking at the usual suspects for the later stages, Germany, Spain, Italy but of course England will win it! Now Roy has decided to start playing 10 outfield players instead of 8 we have a chance!!!

Please get down to ABD Stadium for the next 2 Saturdays to support the boys. Two huge matches and a chance to cement our place in the Finals!

I will get some footage of the boys fighting it out for my New Balance boots for you guys next week. The competition is Tuesday so we will see who comes out on top.
