Hume City continued its rise up the NPL ladder with an emphatic 5-0 win over Northcote City on Saturday afternoon.
Hume fielded an unchanged lineup from last week’s win over Heidelberg, with unseasonably warm conditions greeting the sides at the start of play.
The first half would be devoid of real chances for either side, Hume on the back foot during the early stages, but growing into the game as the half wore on.
Just moments before half time Hume City almost found the opener when Nick Hegarty unleashed a fierce strike from range that was tipped over the bar that Northcote custodian Phil Petrovski.
Lou Acevki’s side went on straight on the attack in the second half and were rewarded when substitute Daniel Clark finished off a flowing move, guiding the ball home to give Hume City the lead.

Kym Harris made it 2-0 in the 67th minute when he did well to control an aerial ball inside the area, shooting on the turn and finding the bottom corner of the net.
Just four minutes later Hume would have its third goal when Kofi Danning surged forward, forcing the ball to Theo Markelis who dispatched his shot expertly.
Kym Harris made it 4-0 just moments later, when he was found by Jeremy Walker with a neat slide-rule pass, tucking the ball home from a tight angle to seal his brace.
Daniel Clark would round out the scoring in the dying embers of the game when he was put through on goal, rounded Petrovski and rolled the ball into the back of the net to make it 5-0.
