MATCH PREVIEW | Hume City vs Port Melbourne

Hume City will look to continue its rise up the NPL ladder when it takes on Port Melbourne at ABD Stadium on Saturday night.

With Hume sitting in 5th position on the NPL ladder and Port only one point behind it in 6th, Saturday’s game is a chance for either side to cement its spot in the finals position and move away from a number of teams sitting mid-table.

After a disappointing 2015 which saw Port finish in 8th position, Eric Vassiliadis’ side made a number of changes to the squad in the off-season, David Stirton joining from South Melbourne, Lambros Honos making the switch from Oakleigh with Jamie de Abreu and Bonel Obradovic also joining the JL Murphy Reserve based side. This year, Port has notched up 5 wins for the season, with 3 draws and 3 losses.

After making the move to Hume City in the off-season, Kym Harris has found plenty of form in recent weeks, along with the goals he is known for. His goal against Heidelberg was crucial and his brace against Northcote was clinical. With plenty of game-time under his belt and a better understanding of the players around him, Harris has started to find more of the ball, as well as applying plenty of defensive pressure.

LADDER POSITION: Hume City 5th (19 points) Port Melbourne 6th (18 points)
