Hume City suffered a narrow 1-0 loss at the hands of Green Gully on Saturday afternoon.
City came into the contest with plenty of confidence after defeating Dandenong Thunder 1-0 in a midweek FFA Cup fixture.
Kofi Danning had the fist real chance for Hume when he was picked out by a Deniz Yildiz cross in the 19th minute, however the cross was slightly too high with Danning heading over the bar.
Ten minutes later it would be Theo Markelis who would go close, his free kick well saved by Gully custodian Rani Dowisha.
Moments later Gully would take the lead thanks to a wonderfully taken strike from Evan Christodoulou.
After the break, Markelis would go close again when he prodded wide in the 50th minute.
Kliment Taseski should have given Greens a two goal advantage just minutes later, when he headed wide from close range.
Hume would continue to press for an equaliser but it wouldn’t be forthcoming, in what was promising display despite the lack of goals.
Green Gully: 1 (Christodoulou 32′) defeated Hume City: 0 at Green Gully Reserve.
