Hume City got its NPL campaign back on track with a hard fought 1-0 win over Pascoe Vale.
After suffering a 1-0 loss to Melbourne Knights a week earlier, a strong crow gathered at ABD Stadium as the club look to get back to winning ways against Pascoe Vale.
City started strong, and nearly found itself in the lead when Kofi Danning prodded wide from a corner in the 13th minute.
Wind and rain lashed the area for most of the first half, both teams struggling to create clear chances.
After the break Danning went close again when he met a Markelis cross, his volley smashing against the upright.
Hume would eventually be rewared for its attacking intent, Markelis turning and shooting from the top of the area, his well hit strike nestling in the bottom corner to put City in the lead.
Pascoe Vale would push for an equaliser, Santilli’s well placed free kick saved brilliantly by Chris Oldfield in the 83rd minute.
With only seconds remaining, Pascoe Vale would have one last change to level the scores but once again Oldfield produced a brilliant save, this time denying Talarico from close range.
Hume would hold on for a well deserved three points, as it prepares for midweek FFA Cup tie against Dandenong Thunder.
HUME CITY: 1 (Markelis 74′) Pascoe Vale: 0 at ABD Stadium.
