Hume City will look to bounce back from a 1-2 loss to South Melbourne last week, when it faces Melbourne Knights at Somers Street on Friday night.
WHAT’S AT STAKE:
With Knights sitting just one point below Hume City on nine points for this season, a win for either side could see it jump up towards a place in the top four. Last week Hume City was reduced to ten men early and went two goals down before a late header from Joseph Franjic via a Nick Hegarty free kick put itself back into the contest. Franjic’s late goal ultimately wouldn’t be enough for the ABD Stadium based side, South Melbourne running out 1-2 winners. Friday night’s clash with Knights looms as a must win for both sides, with both sides sitting near a number of teams on the NPL ladder seeking to put themselves in the reckoning for early finals contention.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT:
Melbourne Knights made a number of changes in the off-season, most notably with Tomislav Uskok and Chris May departing the club, with Tim Purcell, Fraser Chalmers and Jason Hicks among a number of new recruits. Last week Knights drew away to the improving Richmond SC outfit, with Tim Purcell providing the goal that saw the Andrew Marth coached side leave Kevin Bartlett reserve with a share of the spoils.
LOOK OUT FOR:
After being reduced to ten men early last week, Lou Acevski’s Hume City will look to bounce back to winning ways and put its 2016 campaign back on track. Ramazan Tavsancioglu will serve a suspension, meaning Hume City will need to field a reshuffled back four. For Chris Oldfield, Friday night’s clash will see him return to the venue that saw him save four penalties in a row against Knights in the 2015 NPL Victoria Semi Final.
