MATCH PREVIEW | Melbourne Victory vs Hume City

Hume City returns to NPL Victoria action this weekend when it faces Melbourne Victory at Epping Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Hume City will look to return to winning ways when it faces off against the newly promoted Melbourne Victory, after suffering its first loss of the season against Oakleigh Cannons in round 4 of the 2016 NPL Victoria season. With Victory sitting one place ahead of Hume City in third position on the NPL table, a win will help cement the ABD Stadium based club towards the top of the NPL ladder. A 1-0 FFA Cup win over Brunswick City will be fresh in the minds of the Hume City players and confidence should be high. After Melbourne Victory a blockbuster encounter lies next in wait for the Lou Acevski coached side, and with it, an ideal opportunity for it to solidify Hume City’s place as title contenders.

Melbourne Victory has the opportunity to field a wealth of A-League experienced players, Joey Katebian likely to lead the line, along with the likes of Stefan Nigro and George Howard who have all tasted A-League football. Complementing the trio is off-season recruit, Matthew Hennessey, who joined the club after featuring prominently for Hume City in the 2015 season.

Former Melbourne City midfielder, Hernan Espindola, will be looking to reacquaint himself with his former A-League rivals Melbourne Victory. The Argentine born speedster has enjoyed a stellar start to his Hume City career, his goal against Brunswick City proving vital in its progression to the next round of the FFA Cup. Daniel Clark will also likely play some part, as he continues on his return from pre-season injury. With Hume having a full squad to pick from, and plenty of minutes built into the legs of its players, expect to see an even more cohesive and expansive attacking style on Saturday.
