Hume City has suffered its first loss of the 2016 NPL Victoria season, going down 2-1 to Oakleigh Cannons.
City fielded an unchanged XI to the one that drew with Bentleigh Greens a week prior.
Josh Frame gave the Cannons an early lead when his powerfully hit shot from a tight angle found the back of the net.
Lou Acevski’s side pushed for a first half equaliser, however would have to be content going into the break a goal down.
After the resumption of play City went straight on the offensive, and were rewarded when Kofi Danning scored his debut Hume City goal against his former club.
Jeremy Walker did well in the lead up to the goal, getting past his defender and laying the ball off to Danning who lashed his shot home from the top of the area.
With only ten minutes remaining the game was turned on its head when Shaun Timmins received his marching orders after making a second bookable offence.
Oakleigh used the man advantage to their advantage, with Ali Hameed scoring late to ensure the hosts would take all three points.
Oakleigh Cannons: 2 (Frame 26′, Hameed 90′) defeated Hume City: 1 (Danning 54′) at Jack Edwards Reserve.
