Home side hold on for a good Round 1 win

The first match of the season kicked off on the synthetic pitch at home for Hume City U16’s on time on a sunny Sunday afternoon with a light breeze. Both sides started well with the home side making some early breaks down the left and getting in a few shots early in the game.

The breakthrough came in the 31st minute with Miguel Caceres scoring from another good run down the left. A few minutes later Tom Harris capitalised on a lack of concentration from the opposition defense and scored from the top of the box.

The third goal from Anthony Mancuso came shortly before half time & Hume City went to the break with a 3 – 0 lead.

The second half saw Moreland city take the game on by scoring two quick goals after a prolonged mid-field battle. Their efforts to increase the tempo of the game were dealt with well by the home side who managed to take back control of the game to run out winners 3 – 2.
